Explanation
From 13 to 19, Arabic says “unit + ten”. You know the unit words from unit 9, and the word عَشَر (ʿashar) is “ten”: ثَلَاثَةَ عَشَر is thalāthata ʿashar, “three-ten”. The ة of the unit word is read ta before عَشَر. Two numbers are special: 11 is ʾaḥada ʿashar, and 12 is ithnā ʿashar. Twenty is a new word, عِشْرُون (ʿishrūn). These are the forms for counting out loud. The Eastern numerals are written like the digits, from left to right: ١١ ١٢ ١٣.
