Explanation

An invitation is دَعْوَة. To invite a man, say أَدْعُوك إِلَى حَفْلَة, “I invite you to a party”. To invite a woman, say أَدْعُوكِ. Learn these two forms as whole words. To accept, say بِكُلّ سُرُور, “with pleasure”. To refuse politely, say مَعَ الْأَسَف and the reason: مَعَ الْأَسَف عِنْدِي اِجْتِمَاع. To agree on the plan, ask فِي أَيّ سَاعَة؟ and أَيْن نَلْتَقِي؟ The answer uses the future: سَنَلْتَقِي أَمَام الْمَحَطَّة.

Class activity

Write a short invitation to a friend: invite him or her to a party, say the day and the time, and ask where you will meet. Then write two answers: one that accepts with بِكُلّ سُرُور and one that refuses with مَعَ الْأَسَف and a reason.
