Famous natural sites of our country
Natural monuments are unique, beautiful objects of natural or scientific value: caves, waterfalls, springs, giant old trees, lakes. They are under state protection. In Teshiktosh cave in the Boysun mountains (Surkhandarya) tools of ancient people and bones of ancient animals were found; a Neanderthal child’s skeleton was also found there in 1938. The plane tree in Sayrob village is about 900 years old and in ancient times its hollow was used as a room. The waterfall and caves of the Paltov valley (Tashkent region) and the Urungach lakes in Ugam-Chatkal park are also famous. A spring is where underground water comes out on its own: rain and snow water soaks into rock, collects underground and emerges through a crack or on a slope. Caves are risky: go only with a teacher or expert, do not pollute and do not break anything.
Mini-project: choose one natural monument (from the internet or textbook) and prepare a short poster or map symbol showing where it is, why it is unique and how to protect it. Safety: do not walk near caves, gorges or rivers without adults; do not write on monuments, harm trees or leave litter.
