Eating well
Textbook pp. 24–27
GoalLearn healthy eating rules; tell healthy food from unhealthy food; learn why we need vitamins A, C and D.
New words
fruit · mevavegetable · sabzavotvitamin · vitaminhealthy, useful · foydali
Explanation
To grow and stay healthy we eat a variety of foods: grains, meat, milk, yoghurt, fruit and vegetables. We wash fruit and vegetables well before eating. We eat fewer sweet and salty things: fizzy drinks have lots of sugar and crisps lots of salt. Vitamin C helps protect against colds, vitamin A helps growth and eyesight, and vitamin D is needed for bones and teeth.
Worked examples
Healthy: apple, carrot, yoghurt. Less often: crisps, fizzy drinks, sweets.
Class activity
“Green or red”: the teacher names a food. If it is healthy, children raise a green card and jump 3 times on the spot; if unhealthy, they raise a red card and crouch down.
