The textbook has the poem “Chaqmoq” (Lightning) by Otash Xolmirzayev, where the poet describes lightning and rain with lively comparisons. We do not retell it. Lightning is a powerful electric spark between clouds or between a cloud and the ground. Light travels faster than sound, so we first see the lightning and later hear the rumble. Every 3 seconds between the flash and the rumble corresponds to about 1 kilometre. In a thunderstorm we stay indoors and do not stand under a tree or near water.
Примеры
“Thunderstorm”. Towards evening black clouds covered the sky. Suddenly lightning flashed as if splitting the sky in two. I counted the seconds: six, then the rumble was heard. So the thunderstorm was about two kilometres away from us. The downpour began with a rustling sound. We went indoors and sat in the middle of the room, not by the window. After the rain a rainbow appeared in the sky.
Calculation: 6 seconds ÷ 3 = 2 km. Safety: stay indoors, do not stand under trees or near water.
