Объяснение
The textbook has the poem “Chang‘i uchaman” (I ski downhill) by Qambar Ota, which describes the winter joy and feeling of speed in the mountains. We do not retell it. An epithet is a word that makes a thing more vivid: snow-white snow, a road soft as a veil, pure air. Epithets give a poem charm. Safety matters in winter sports: skis and sledges are used only under adult supervision, on a mountain slope away from roads and trees, wearing a helmet.
Примеры
“A winter hill”. On the morning of the first snow we went with my sister and father to a quiet hill near our neighbourhood to go sledging. The hill was snow-white, the air pure, and the snow crunched with a sound. Father checked that the hill was far from the road and made us wear helmets. The sledge slid down like a soft wind and I laughed with joy. At the bottom we all took turns carrying the sledge up. When tired we drank hot tea and went home.
Epithets: snow-white hill, pure air, soft wind. Rules: with adults, far from the road, wearing a helmet.
