Shame
Textbook: Part 4, pp. 10–13
ЦельUnderstand the feeling of shame; know the importance of admitting a mistake and apologising.
Новые слова
shame, humiliation · izzaembarrassment · xijolatto admit · tan olmoqto forgive · kechirmoq
Объяснение
Izza is the feeling of being ashamed of your own action, of your face turning red. This feeling helps us to correct a mistake. The textbook story “Izza” by Muhabbat Hamidova is about two girlfriends. We do not repeat it; we read our own text. Admitting a mistake is not shameful; on the contrary, it is a sign of strength. Synonyms: uyalmoq, xijolat bo‘lmoq.
Примеры
“The old boot”. Our classmate Karim was a new pupil and his boots were worn. I showed his boots to my girlfriends and laughed. Karim silently bowed his head. At that moment my face turned red and I felt uneasy. After lessons I went to Karim and said: “Forgive me, I did wrong.” He smiled and said: “I have forgiven you.” After that we became friends.
Advice: if you make a mistake, learn to admit it first, then to ask forgiveness.
