Explanation

You know gender from Unit 8, and now you use it with furniture. Стол, дива́н, шкаф, ковёр and телеви́зор are masculine. Зе́ркало is neuter, so we say моё зе́ркало. Two important words end in a soft sign ь and are feminine: крова́ть and дверь. Say моя́ крова́ть and моя́ дверь. A word with ь can be masculine or feminine, so learn the gender with each word. Add an adjective with the same gender: но́вый дива́н, больша́я крова́ть.
