Explanation
Odil Yoqubov was born on 20 October 1926 in the village of Qarnoq in South Kazakhstan. He took part in the war against Japan and then studied at Central Asian State University. In 1987–1991 he headed the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan. His works include “Tengdoshlar” (1951), “Er boshiga ish tushsa...” (1966), “Ulug‘bek xazinasi” (1973), “Diyonat” (1977), “Ko‘hna dunyo” (1982), “Oqqushlar, oppoq qushlar” (1988) and “Adolat manzili” (1998). In 1985 he received the title People’s Writer of Uzbekistan. The writer died in 2009. In his novels the themes of conscience, justice, honesty and responsibility have an important place.
