Explanation
Let us recall: products from 2 to 9 in the table; division as the inverse of multiplication; divisors and multiples; perimeter and area of squares and rectangles; “how many times more / fewer”. In calculations do brackets first, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction.
Worked examples
7 × 7 = 49, 6 × 6 = 36, 9 × 9 = 81.
(72 : 8) + (9 × 3) = 9 + 27 = 36.
Class activity
“Table relay”: two teams take turns writing products and quotients on the board. The first team to finish without mistakes wins.
