Hundreds. Counting in hundreds

Textbook: Part 2, lesson 42, pp. 4–5
GoalThe hundred: 100 = 1 hundred = 10 tens. Calculating with hundreds.
New words
hundred (a group of 100) · yuzlikone hundred (100) · yuzthousand (1 000) · mingten (a group of 10) · o‘nlik
Explanation

We call 100 a hundred: 100 = 1 hundred = 10 tens. Round hundreds have their own names: 200 – ikki yuz (two hundred) ... 900 – to‘qqiz yuz (nine hundred). 10 hundreds make a thousand (1 000). We add and subtract hundreds like ordinary numbers: 3 hundreds + 2 hundreds = 5 hundreds.

Worked examples
4 hundreds + 3 hundreds = 7 hundreds, so 400 + 300 = 700.
9 hundreds − 4 hundreds = 5 hundreds, so 900 − 400 = 500. In 5 hundreds there are 50 tens.
Class activity
