The marriage contract and ending a marriage
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Write three terms that may be included in a marriage contract and one that may not.
Allowed: sharing expenses, the order of dividing property on divorce, sharing in income. Not allowed: restricting one party’s rights (for example forbidding work).
2
Compare the two divorce procedures in a table: who decides and in which cases.
Registry office: undisputed, no minor children or a special ground. Court: a dispute exists, children or property unresolved, or one side does not consent.
3
Why is notarial certification important for a marriage contract’s reliability? Write 3–4 sentences.
The notary checks identity, capacity and consent, a copy is kept in the archive and the chance of a dispute falls.
4
Briefly write the difference between declaring a marriage invalid and divorce.
Declaring a marriage invalid is based on a violation of law when it was entered; divorce ends a lawful marriage.
