Explanation

For more than one thing, add -s to the word: book — books, chair — chairs. Question: “How many chairs can you see?” Answer: “Five chairs.” or “I can see five chairs.”

Worked examples
— How many pencils can you see? — Three pencils.
— How many windows can you see? — I can see two windows.
Class activity

Counting walk: in pairs, children look around the room, ask “How many desks can you see?” and count together.
