Explanation

This is Darslab’s own term project: a safe and smart website plan for an invented school club, such as the Garden Club (example), made by a group on paper. It has eight parts. One: a page plan with four pages, home, about, events and a contact form. Two: a design sheet with a menu, three colours, two fonts and layout boxes. Three: a short HTML skeleton. Four: two style rules, read and explained. Five: three prompts for an AI helper, clear and specific. Six: privacy rules, saying what goes on the site and what never does. Seven: a small table of invented visitor votes with a chart. Eight: a list of sources to credit. Give each member a role and prepare a short talk. Nothing needs a device and nothing is published.

A group’s skeleton and style rules for the Garden Club: the HTML has a container with a header, and two style rules give the header a dark green background and the container a width of 80% centred with margin auto. They read the code aloud and explain each line.

The group invents a small table of visitor votes for the three pages, with made-up numbers: Home 12, Events 9, About 5. The chart shows that the Home page is most visited. They decide to make the menu button for Events easy to find. These are invented numbers; they say nothing about real people.
Class activity

In your group, complete all eight parts of the project on paper for an invented club. Give each member a role: planner, designer, code reader, prompt writer, privacy checker and speaker. Practise a three-minute talk and give each other two stars and one wish. Make sure there is no personal data anywhere.

Practice
1
Name the four pages in the project plan.
2
Name three things in the design sheet.
3
What goes into the privacy rules?
4
Why do we list sources?
