Edit and improve what the AI made

ICT Prep 2 Term 1, Unit 2, Lesson 4: pp. 81–88
GoalWrite editing commands for text, colours, fonts and pictures.
New words
editing · changing a draft to make it betterlogo · a small symbol or drawing that stands for a club or a siteschedule · a list of events with their days and timescontrast · the difference between text and background colour that makes reading easy
Explanation

A first draft is only a start. After the AI drafts the site, you can ask it to change things step by step. You can ask for livelier text, written for readers your age, but you still check that every fact is true. You can ask for new colours and fonts, such as dark green headings on a cream background, which has good contrast; light green headings on beige would be hard to read, so you give a reason for each change. You can ask for pictures, only your own drawings or pictures you have permission to use. Other ideas are a logo, a schedule of club events, short videos and links to useful pages, always with a grown-up. Write each change as a short, clear command and look at the result.

BeforeEditing commandAfter
long, formal text“Rewrite this welcome text so it is lively and short, for readers aged thirteen.”a short, friendly text to check

Worked examples
Salma’s draft says “The Garden Club is an association for horticultural enthusiasts.” She writes a command: “Rewrite the sentence so that a thirteen-year-old finds it friendly.” The new sentence says “We love growing plants together!” She checks that it is true for the club.

Youssef asks for the club schedule: “Add a simple schedule with the days and times of our invented club meetings.” The helper draws a table with invented days. Youssef checks that no real place or name is on it.
Class activity

Write three editing commands for a draft page of an invented club: one for the text, one for colours and fonts, one for a picture. Give a reason for each. Check each command for personal data and for readable contrast.

Practice
1
Why do we check an AI-edited text even when it sounds good?
2
Why is dark green on cream a good choice for headings?
3
Which pictures can we use on a club page?
4
Name two extra ideas for a club site.
