Review: solving problems and showing information
Here is Theme 4 in short. Sensors send information to a computer, and programs use it to save electricity or water. Install and update programs only from official places with a grown-up, and wait before you do anything when a screen freezes. Computers use two states, on and off, written 1 and 0; the places in binary are 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, so 10011 is 19. Plan a project with four questions and give roles by strengths. Follow the four skills: research, collect, classify, process. Choose a bar graph to compare and a line graph for change, with a title and labels; a spreadsheet formula starts with an equals sign. Tell a presentation as a story, with few words, fitting pictures and short sound, and respect other people’s work. Plan with a storyboard, follow the 10-20-30 rule, and for a web page use a heading, subheadings, text, a large picture and good contrast.
| Topic | Remember |

| Binary | places 16, 8, 4, 2, 1; 1100 is 12 |
| Graphs | bar to compare; line for change |
| 10-20-30 | 10 slides, 20 minutes, letters 30 |
| Web page | heading, subheadings, text, picture, contrast |
Advice poster: an appealing website. On paper make a poster that gives advice on making an appealing website. Use the parts you know: a heading, subheadings, main text, a large picture, good contrast, a menu, and a Contact and About page. Add three tips about layout, three about features and two about pictures and sound that are used fairly. Name an imaginary website you would design (not a real one) and say why you chose it. Give three interesting facts about the topic of your website. Show the poster to the class.
