Codes and messages
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Make up your own three-signal code with a torch or claps. Write the meanings and teach it to a family member.
Answers differ. The signals should be clearly different from each other.
2
List three codes you see on the street (signs, lights, symbols) and what they mean.
Examples: traffic lights, a zebra crossing, a ‘no entry’ sign.
3
You sent 10 messages and 7 arrived correctly. How many did not? Write it as a subtraction.
10 − 7 = 3 messages.
4
Draw the bee code game: a bee walking toward the flowers. Label near and far.
The drawing shows a short path for near and a long path for far.
5
Explain to someone at home how the bat-inspired cane works. Use the words echo and vibrate.
It sends sound, the echo bounces back from obstacles, and the handle vibrates.
