Explanation

To ask where someone is from, say Отку́да ты? to a friend and Отку́да вы? to a stranger. You answer Я из… and the country. After из the country changes its ending: Росси́я becomes из Росси́и, and Узбекиста́н becomes из Узбекиста́на. You do not need the rule yet. Learn the four forms in the table as blocks. You can add your nationality: Я из Узбекиста́на. Я узбе́к.
