Explanation

Д says d, with the tongue tip on the teeth. Л says l, with the tongue tip behind the upper teeth; it sounds a little like the l in “full”. П says p without a puff of air, as in “spin”. И says ee, as in “see”; it looks like a backwards N. З says z, as in “zoo”, and looks like the number 3. Some shapes are new, so use a picture to remember them: Д is a little house with a roof, and П is a gate. Remember the soft Л in лес is said “lyes”.
