Explanation

A year (سَنَة) has four seasons (فُصُول); one season is فَصْل. To say “in winter”, use فِي and الْ: فِي الشِّتَاء. The letters ش، ر، ص are sun letters, so the lam is silent and the next letter is doubled: الشِّتَاء، الرَّبِيع، الصَّيْف. The letter خ is a moon letter: الْخَرِيف. After the season we can say what the weather is like: فِي الصَّيْف الْجَوّ حَارّ. To say “my favourite season” we use فَصْلِي الْمُفَضَّل.

Class activity

Write one sentence about each season: where you are, what you wear and what the weather is like. Start every sentence with فِي الشِّتَاء، فِي الرَّبِيع، فِي الصَّيْف، فِي الْخَرِيف. Underline the doubled letter after the sun letters.
