Rhymes and letter order

Explanation

Some words sound the same at the end. We say they rhyme. Bee and tree rhyme. Star and car rhyme. The letters of the alphabet come in order. Say them: a, b, c, d, e, f, g.

Worked examples

Little bee, in the tree, buzz, buzz, buzz, come to me.
Little star, near the car, you are bright and you are far.

Listen to a little rhyme. Which words rhyme?

a, b, c, d, e, f, g.

Say the letters in order.
Say: bee, tree. They rhyme. Say: bee, bus. They do not rhyme.
Class activity

Letter line-up. Write a, b, c, d, e, f and g on seven small cards. Mix them up. Put them in a line in ABC order and say each letter. Then a grown-up hides one card. Which letter is missing?
