Explanation

Pictures can tell a story. Look at the four pictures. They show how a mango tree grows. They are not in order. Which comes first? Which comes next? Write 1, 2, 3 and 4 under the pictures.

Worked examples

A seed is in the soil. It grows into a small plant. The small plant grows into a big tree. The tree has flowers. Next it has mangoes.

Listen to the story of a mango tree.
Now the pictures are in order. Say the letters in order: c, a, d, b.
Tell the story again in your own words. Use: first, next, then, last.
Class activity

Picture order. Draw four small pictures of a seed growing, or of your own morning. Cut them apart and mix them up. A friend puts them in order and writes 1, 2, 3, 4.
