Sharing my findings with a teacher and a friend

ICT P4 Term 2, Theme 3: pp. 38–41
GoalShare what I found with a teacher and a friend in two different ways, and see how communication tools can help my community.
New words

Explanation

When you share your findings, think about your audience. With a teacher we choose careful, polite words and complete sentences. We may hand in a written report or a message with a greeting and thanks. This is why an email is usually more formal than an instant message. With a friend we can use relaxed, friendly words, and talk live or write a short note. The findings are the same, but the way we say them changes. Choose someone you know, and ask a grown-up to help with anything online. Communication tools can also help your community: with a teacher, a class might send a reminder about a clean-up day or an invitation to swap books, without any private details.

Class 4 wants to invite the neighbours to a street clean-up day. With their teacher, they write a polite note to send in the way the school chooses, with no one’s address or phone number.
Class activity

Two ways to say it. Choose one finding from your research. Write it twice: once for your teacher and once for a friend. Read both to a partner and let them guess which is for the teacher. Then think: what could your class announce to help your community?
