Explanation
ICT tools help us learn, share and communicate. In Egypt, school materials are also offered online: digital books, activities, videos and TV channels made by experts in each subject. The aim is that all pupils can reach the same learning materials equally, wherever they live. The free online library also holds online meetings for teachers, pupils and parents, which explain how to join the library and how to use it. A digital book can be opened on a tablet or a computer, and many books fit in one device. But a paper book is still lovely, and you do not need a screen to learn. Use digital materials with a teacher or a family member, and write down your sources.

Worked examples
Youssef forgot his science book at his grandparents’ house. With his aunt he opens the digital book on a tablet. The pages he needs are there.
A pupil in a small village and a pupil in a big city watch the same video lesson from an expert. Both can reach the lesson equally.
Hana’s mother joins an online meeting for parents. It explains how to join the free online library. Then she helps Hana to use it.
Class activity
My learning toolbox. Draw a toolbox with four drawers: digital books, activities, videos and TV lessons. In each drawer write one subject you could learn with it and how. Then write one thing you prefer to learn from paper, and why.
