Project: our digital safety rules
A project is a big task that a group does step by step. Ours is called Digital safety. First read the title and ask: what do we need to find out? Then make a group and give each person a job, such as reader, writer, artist and speaker. Brainstorm what your product will be: a poster, a booklet or a short talk. Next gather information from the school library, from the free online library with a grown-up, and from interviews with family and classmates you know. Interview questions never ask for passwords or private details. A good question is: what do you do when a scary page opens? Write the answers and ask permission to use them. Then make a plan with steps, helpers and days, make your product and practise presenting it. Finish with a checklist.
| Part | Our idea |
|---|---|
| Introduction | why digital safety matters |
| Rule 1 | ask before you download |
| Rule 2 | tell a trusted adult |
| Rule 3 | check before you trust |
| Conclusion | be safe, kind and smart |
Poster: Our digital safety rules. On a big sheet, write the title, five short rules with drawings, and a line at the bottom for your sources. Use this checklist: Is each rule clear? Is the writing large enough to read from a distance? Did we credit our sources? Does the poster ask for no private information? Then present for two minutes. Each member says one sentence.
