Life skills, clues and data
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Look at the six life skills in the lesson. Which one did you use today? Tell a family member what happened.
Answers differ. The child names a skill and gives an example.
2
Write your own number riddle. Choose the answer first, then write two clues. Ask someone at home to solve it.
Answers differ. Check that the clues lead to one number only.
3
Describe an object in the kitchen with three clues. Can someone guess it?
Answers differ, for example: it is round, it holds soup, we use a spoon with it (a bowl).
4
Ask 10 people: “Which fruit do you like best: orange, banana or apple?” Make a tally chart and a bar graph.
The three totals must add up to 10. The longest bar is the favourite fruit.
5
With a grown-up, do a standing jump twice and measure each jump in centimetres. Which jump was longer? By how many centimetres?
Answers differ. The child subtracts the shorter jump from the longer.
