Roll a ball along the floor. Tap it from the side. Tell a grown-up which way it went and why.
It turns away from the side where it was tapped, because the push changes its direction.

Tie a string to a toy and pull it along the floor. Pull the string to the left, then to the right. What happens to the toy? Tell a grown-up.
The toy turns towards the side you pull. A pull can change direction.

Drop a sheet of kitchen paper and a spoon at the same time from the same height. Predict first. What happened?
The spoon falls fast and straight. The kitchen paper sways and falls slowly.

Tell a grown-up one way a bicycle can change direction, and one way it can change speed.
Direction: turn the handlebars. Speed: pedal harder to speed up or pull the brakes to slow down.
