Forces around us
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Find three things at home that you push and three that you pull. Tell a grown-up.
For example: push a door, a light switch, a toy; pull a drawer, a curtain, a rope.
2
Draw yourself pushing a toy and pulling a toy. Draw an arrow for each force.
Push: the arrow points away from the child. Pull: the arrow points towards the child.
3
Which needs a bigger force: pushing a pencil or pushing a car? Say why.
The car. It is much heavier.
4
Roll a ball gently and then harder. Which went farther? Tell a grown-up what you learned.
The harder push makes the ball go farther.
