Can we care for our environment?
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Make a “helping nature” card. Write or draw one thing you will do every day this week to help nature. Tick the card each day you do it.
Any sensible idea, for example: put litter in the bin, turn off the tap, water a plant, put out water for birds.
2
Find five things at home that can be recycled. Write down what each one is made of.
For example: a plastic bottle, a paper bag, a glass jar, a tin can, a cardboard box.
3
Find one thing at home that you could reuse instead of throwing away. What new job could it do? Tell a grown-up.
For example: a yoghurt pot can become a seed pot; a shoe box can become a toy box; a jar can hold pencils.

With an adult, count the birds you can see from a window for five minutes on three different days. Write the numbers in a table. Did they go up, go down or stay about the same?
Any honest counts. The child should read their own table and say if the numbers went up, down or stayed the same.
