Making circuits (2)
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Look at a torch with an adult. Find the switch. What happens inside when you press it?
The switch closes the circuit, so electricity flows to the lamp and it lights.
2
Draw a circuit that works and a circuit that will not work. Say what is wrong with the second.
The second has a gap, a loose wire or a missing cell.
3
Find something at home that makes a sound or spins when it has cells in it. Tell a grown-up how you could make it work.
For example: a toy car or a musical card. Put in the cells and switch it on.
4
Tell a grown-up why we use small cells for circuits and never the mains.
Mains electricity is very strong and dangerous. Small cells are safe.
5
Predict: would a lamp be brighter with one cell or with two cells? Say why.
Two cells. More cells push more electricity, so the lamp is brighter.
