Where do we use electricity?
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
With an adult, walk round your home. Find five things that use electricity and two that do not. Do not touch any sockets.
For example: yes: light, fridge, television, phone charger, kettle. No: spoon, chair, book.
2
Find one thing at home that uses cells. Where do the cells go inside it?
For example: a remote control, clock or toy. The cells go in a small space with a lid, often on the back or bottom.
3
Ask an older person how they had light at night when they were young, and what they did without a television.
Answers will differ. They may remember candles, oil lamps, torches, or playing games and telling stories.
4
Draw one thing that uses mains electricity and one that uses cells.
For example: a television with a plug, and a torch with cells.
