Plants in different habitats
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Draw a plant and draw the four things it needs around it. Label each one.
Light (the Sun), water (rain or a watering can), air, and soil with roots.
2
Find a plant that you see outside near your home. Say where it gets its light and water.
Light from the Sun; water from rain or from the soil, or from someone who waters it.
3
Tell a grown-up why a cactus can live in the desert but a tulip cannot.
A cactus stores water in its thick stem. A tulip needs more water than a desert gives.
4
Put a wet cotton pad on a saucer and sprinkle some cress seeds on it. Keep it damp near a window. Draw it every two days for a week.
The seeds should sprout in a few days; the shoots turn green and grow taller. Keep the pad damp.
