Inheriting characteristics
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Make a fingerprint with a soft pencil and clear tape. Is it a loop, a whorl or an arch?
Children should find one of the three patterns. Any of them is correct. Look with a magnifier if you have one.
2
Think of one way you look like someone in your family and one way you look different. Tell a grown-up.
For example: the same smile as my dad but different hair. It is fine if a child is adopted or looks different from their family.
3
Write three things you can do that you learned. Then write one thing about your body that you inherited.
Learned: riding a bike, swimming, reading. Inherited: eye colour, curly hair, the shape of your nose.

Look at the animals in a book. Find a baby animal that looks like its parent. Draw both.
For example: a tiger cub with stripes like its mother, a puppy with the same coloured fur as its mother.
