Using the right material
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Choose an object in your kitchen. Say what it is made of and why.
For example: a spoon is made of metal because metal is strong. Accept any sensible reason.
2
Look at a pair of shoes. Name two materials and say why each one is used.
For example: rubber sole (flexible, grips); fabric top (soft).
3
Draw a bucket made of the wrong material and say what goes wrong.
For example: a paper bucket goes soggy and leaks.
4
Find an object made of two materials. Tell a grown-up what each part is for.
For example: a pencil, wood to hold and a rubber to rub out.
