Natural and made materials
Answers are for parents and teachers.
1
Find three natural things outside, such as a leaf, a stone and a twig. Draw them and write ‘natural’.
For example: a stone, a twig, a feather. They all come from nature and were not made by people.
2
Find two made materials in your home. Tell a grown-up what each was made from.
For example: a glass jar (made from sand) and a paper book (made from wood).
3
Draw the story of a glass jar in three pictures.
Sand, then the sand being melted in a very hot factory, then the glass jar.
4
Look at your shoes or your bag. What materials can you find? Which are natural and which are made?
For example: cotton laces or a cotton bag are natural materials; plastic parts and nylon are made. Accept any sensible answer.
