Textbook: Part 3, lesson 104, pp. 104–106

New words
one thousandth · mingdan birthousandths place · mingdan birlar xonasithree-place decimal · uch xonali kasrprecise measuring · aniq o‘lchash
Explanation

To measure even more precisely, split a hundredth into 10 parts: 1/1 000 = 0.001. This is the third place, the thousandths place. A fraction with denominator 1 000 becomes a decimal with three digits after the point: 236/1 000 = 0.236; 5 47/1 000 = 5.047. 4.582 is four and five hundred eighty-two thousandths.

Worked examples
57/1 000 = 0.057: 0 is in the tenths place, 5 in the hundredths place and 7 in the thousandths place.
6.124 = 6 124/1 000.
