Explanation

When taking a job, the candidate gives the employer an identity document (passport or ID card), a document on education or qualification and, depending on the job, other documents (for example, a medical certificate); the list is set by the Code and the type of job, and unnecessary documents cannot be demanded. A minor also shows the consent of a parent or guardian. After the contract is signed, the employer issues a hiring order (directive) and has the employee sign to confirm acquaintance; the order must match the terms of the contract. In the past an employee’s work history was entered in a paper labour book; today this information is kept in an electronic labour book in a unified electronic system, and the employee can view it too. The employer may use personal data only for lawful purposes and must protect it. The personal file records the employee’s data, work history and transfers. On hiring, the employee must be made familiar with internal rules, the job description and labour-protection rules.

Worked examples
Zilola wants a summer job. She brings her passport (ID card), a school certificate that she is studying and her parent’s written consent. The employer demands no extra documents; after the contract is signed, the employee is introduced to the hiring order.
An employee noticed that the position in the order does not match the contract. Before signing, the employee tells the employer about the difference and asks for correction; this prevents later disputes.
Class activity

Document set: students list what documents are needed to take a job and agree how to keep them (copies, a safe place). Real personal data (numbers, addresses) is not used.
