Explanation
Uzbeks are a hospitable people: we greet guests with a smile. When invited, we arrive on time and bring a small gift. As guests we don’t make noise or touch things without asking, and we say thank you and goodbye when leaving.
Worked examples
Before visiting his grandma, Muhammadali made a paper greeting card himself. Grandma was very happy.
Class activity
“Guest and host” role-play: in pairs, one opens the door and welcomes, the other greets and hands over a gift, then thanks and says goodbye.
