Saying thank you
Textbook pp. 56–59
GoalUnderstand gratitude and show it in words and actions.
New words
gratitude · minnatdorlikthanks · tashakkurkindness, a good deed · yaxshilikblessing · ne’mat
Explanation
Gratitude means noticing and valuing kindness. We say rahmat or tashakkur (thank you) to those who help us and remember their kindness. We also show gratitude with actions: taking care of what we are given and doing good ourselves. We are thankful for nature’s gifts — bread, water, fruit.
Worked examples
The neighbour gave Shahzoda grapes from her garden. Shahzoda said “Thank you very much!” and later took her warm bread with grandma.
Class activity
“Thank-you tree”: each child draws on a paper leaf someone they are grateful to and sticks it on a tree on the board.
Practice
1
A friend lends you a sharpener. What do you say?
Rahmat! (Thank you!)
2
What else can we say instead of rahmat?
Tashakkur, minnatdorman (thanks, I’m grateful)
3
Granny invited children to pick apples; they left peel everywhere. Was that right?
No, they should have tidied up and said thank you
