Term 1 review: a green way to travel
A presentation shows others how to do something. We say what we need and then give the steps in order with First, Next, Then, After that and Finally. Green travel means travelling in ways that make less pollution. Walking and cycling make no pollution at all. A bus, a train or a tram carries many people at once, so there are fewer cars on the road. Describe a route in words, for example: I walk to the bus stop, take the bus for ten minutes, and walk to school. Let us write a plan that is good for us and for our city, with no blame for anybody.
| Way to travel | Pollution | Why |
|---|---|---|
| walking | none | we use our legs |
| cycling | none | we use our legs |
| bus / tram / train | less for each person | many people travel together |
| car with one person | more for each person | one person uses a whole car |
How to make a paper boat. First, take a square sheet of paper. Next, fold it in half. Then fold the top corners down to the middle. After that, fold the edges up on both sides. Next, open the boat and press the bottom flat. Finally, put your boat on the water.
I want to travel in a green way. On Sunday and Tuesday I walk to school. On Monday and Wednesday I cycle with my father. On Thursday I take the school bus. Walking and cycling make no pollution, and a bus carries many children, so there are fewer cars. This plan is good for me and for our city.
Green week. The child plans five days of travel and chooses the greenest way for each day. Then the child writes a plan of 50 to 60 words with the days, the ways and a reason. The grown-up checks the facts: walking and cycling make no pollution; a bus carries many people.
