Term 1 review: past simple, a moral and sounds
We use the past simple for finished actions: I went, she found, they didn’t see, Did you make it? A fable is a short story with a lesson, and the lesson is called the moral. To find the moral, ask: What happened to the character? What did the character learn? The sounds /dʒ/ and /ʒ/: /dʒ/ is in magic, giant, orange and edge. /ʒ/ is in pleasure, vision and decision. Today you will read the fable on page 107 of your book. Do not copy it. Read it and choose a moral in your own words.

I went to the market. Omar found a coin. We didn’t make a cake. Did you see the ship? Yes, I did.
Moral match. The grown-up tells a very short invented story (for example, a girl shares her bread with a friend). The child says what happened first, what happened next and what the moral is. Then change places, and the child tells the story.
