Turkestan Committee – Provisional Government representatives; Soviets – workers and soldiers; Sho‘roi Islomiya/National Centre – Jadids, aiming at autonomy.

Who were the Jadids? Write 3–4 sentences and name two of them.
Jadids were progressive intellectuals in Turkestan who wanted to renew education, culture and politics; for example Mahmudxo‘ja Behbudiy and Munavvarqori Abdurashidxonov.

Compare Sho‘roi Islomiya and Sho‘roi Ulamo: write one similarity and one difference.
Similar: both spoke for the Muslim population. Different: the first was formed by Jadids, the second by clergy of traditional views.
