When I was younger: games I loved
To write about a toy from our childhood, we use the past simple. We say what the toy was, when we had it, what we did with it and why we liked it. We use because to give a reason: I liked my kite because it flew very high. We also say what we were good at: I was good at building long tracks. We can use intensifiers: I really enjoyed it. Writing needs a start, a middle and an end. In the start we name the toy. In the middle we say what we did and what we were good at. At the end we say how we feel about it now. Do not write about a skateboard: choose a toy of your own.
| Part | Example |
|---|---|
| Start | My favourite toy was a train set. |
| Middle | I played with it every day. I was good at building tracks. |
| Reason | I loved it because it was exciting. |
| End | Now I keep it in a box. |
When I was six, my favourite toy was a wooden train set. I played with it every day because I really loved the little bridge and the tunnel. I was very good at building long tracks. I liked it so much that I took it to my grandmother’s house. Now I keep it in a box.
