What the test is

The SAT is a college admission test used by universities in the USA and many other countries. It is taken on a laptop or tablet in the Bluebook app, at a test center. Every passage is short (25–150 words) and has one question.

How scoring works

Each section is scored from 200 to 800, so the total is 400–1600. The test is adaptive: the first module of each section has easy, medium and hard questions, and how you do there decides whether your second module is easier or harder. Only the harder second module opens the top scores, so accuracy in module 1 matters most. There is no penalty for a wrong answer — never leave a question blank.
