Hopscotch and missing letters

Explanation

Many short words have three sounds. Sun is s-u-n. In some words a letter is missing. Say the word, listen to the sounds and write the missing letter.

Worked examples

Missing letter: ct. Say the sounds: c, a, t. The missing letter is a.
b _ x
Another one: bx. Say: b, o, x. The missing letter is o.
Hopscotch rules: take turns, hop on one foot, say the number in each box, and do not touch the line.
Class activity

Hopscotch. Draw boxes with chalk and number them. Hop from box 1 to the last box and say each number. If you touch a line, it is the next child’s turn. Then write a three-letter word in each box.
