Explanation

Words have beats. Clap for each beat. Rice has one beat. Apple has two beats: ap-ple. Say the word slowly. Clap as you say it.

Clap parade. March around the room. Say a food word and clap each beat. Make a line: all one-beat words go left, all two-beat words go right. Try: jam, sugar, bread, pickle.
