My responsible-gaming promise
Playing responsibly means enjoying a game without letting it cause trouble. Here are habits that help. Play only with people you know and trust. Never put personal details in a name or in a password. Do not switch on a webcam for a game. Accept the limits that your family sets, and agree them together. Keep time for family, friends, homework, meals, exercise and sleep. If something feels wrong, tell your parents or a trusted adult at once; you will not be punished for telling. Now try a promise. A promise starts with ‘I promise to…’ and is short. For example: ‘I promise to stop when my family says it is time.’ Then help someone else: read the post of an invented gamer and write a kind reply on paper. You do not need to use any real game name, and you never write your own username.
| Do | Do not |
|---|---|
| play with people you know and trust | put your name or school in a game name |
| agree the limit with your family | keep playing when it is time to stop |
| keep time for homework, meals, exercise, sleep | switch on a webcam for a game |
| tell a trusted adult if something is wrong | keep a problem secret |
My promise. Write ‘I promise to…’ three times, with three different habits from the Do list. Decorate your promise card and sign it with your first name only. Read it to a family member. Then write a kind reply to Zizo in two sentences.
| A | B |
