What time is it?

Discover Mathematics: Chapter 7
GoalTell and write the time to the hour on a clock with hands and on a digital clock.
New words
hour · one part of the day, for example 3 o’clockshort hand · points to the hourlong hand · points to 12 on an o’clock timedigital clock · shows time with numbers, like 3:00
Explanation

A clock has two hands. The short hand tells the hour. The long hand tells the minutes. When the long hand points straight up to 12, the time is exactly an o’clock time. Look at the clock: the short hand points to 3, so it is 3 o’clock. A digital clock shows the same time with numbers. It writes 3:00. The first number is the hour, and the 00 means exactly on the hour.
