Discover Mathematics: Chapter 6
GoalCount 31 to 35 as three tens and some ones, and write those numbers.

Explanation

Thirty is three full tens. One more makes thirty-one: three tens and one one. Keep adding one: 32, 33, 34, 35. The tens digit stays 3. Only the ones digit grows. Look at the picture. Each stick is a ten and each small cube is a one. This shows 32: three sticks and two cubes.

Worked examples
Hana counts 33 chairs for the school party: three rows of ten and 3 more.
Seif builds a number with sticks and cubes: 3 sticks and 4 cubes make 34.
Jana puts 35 biscuits on a tray for Eid: 3 tens and 5 ones.
Class activity

Stick and cube game. Roll small rolls of paper for tens and use buttons for ones. Ask the child to show 31, then 33, then 35, and to say each number. Then show a number yourself and let the child name it.
