Explanation
In this unit we learned to read and write multi-digit numbers, places and classes, comparing numbers, sums of place values, column addition and subtraction, equations and word problems. Now we use everything together.
Worked examples
6 482 315 – six million four hundred eighty-two thousand three hundred fifteen. It is smaller than 6 500 000: 6 482 315 < 6 500 000.
60 240 = 60 000 + 200 + 40. 60 240 + 39 760 = 100 000.
Class activity
“Quiz”: teams draw a random card with a task (read, compare, expand, calculate in a column) and answer. A correct answer earns a point.
